Term: Color rendering index (CRI)

Definition:

A measure of how close a light source's spectral distribution is to the reference (the sun). A CRI above 90 is generally accepted as appropriate for most cultural heritage imaging. All light sources have variations in their spectral distribution. Light sources that have serious deficiencies in their spectral distribution are unsuitable for use in a cultural heritage imaging environment.
